The story of the British Army on the Western Front during the First World War is waiting to be discovered in 1.5 million pages of unit war diaries. We need your help to reveal the stories of those who fought in the global conflict that shaped the world we live in today.

    My dad served in the Leeds Rifles, Prince of Wales Own West Yorkshire Regiment in France, 1916-18. He saw action at San Quentin and other areas of northern France. He was wounded by “liquid fire” and was in a military hospital when the Armistice was declared.

    He was a native of Leeds, Yorkshire and died in Atlantic City, NJ in 1955.

    I have his medals, discharge papers and embroidered cards he sent my mom from the Western Front.
